I grew up in La Canada, attended La Canada public schools and have returned home as a Teacher Specialist. La Canada is such a wonderful place to grow up and we are so fortunate to not only have an excellent school district, but a Blue Ribbon High School in our own backyard. My son currently attends La Canada High School. He was also raised in La Canada and has attended all La Canada schools. My family has lived in La Canada since 1972. My older sister lives with her husband in Newport Beach and we try to visit them often (who wouldn't?).
I graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies and have been a passionate educator ever since! I worked in municipal recreation for over 9 years as a Recreation Leader, Recreation Specialist and Program Director in the cities of Cerritos and Seal Beach, CA. I worked closely with children and adults of all ages, families and their communities as I planned and implemented youth programs and special events citywide. In 2003, I began my journey into education by obtaining a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Masters of Education in Cross Cultural Education. In 2010, I completed an "Education Specialist" Credential in Moderate to Severe Disabilities. I've been a Special Education teacher in La Canada for over 9 years now and have over 8 additional years of teaching experience. I started as a pre-school teacher and then went on to elementary school, middle school, and high school as a full time teacher and substitute teacher for La Canada Unified, South Pasadena Unified, Westside Union School District, KinderCare and Saugus Union School districts.
I love teaching at the high school level and truly enjoy making an impact on my students. It's a true gift to be able to teach and inspire their young minds! In my free time I love to head to the beach, cook, bake, enjoy Pilates, the outdoors, serving the homeless with students, and I am active at my church. I also really love just spending time with my family and friends!
